Post 46u: I Feel it Important to Assist You Dear Viewers of this Blog in Learning the True Facts Regarding Book of Mormon Geography. Many Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Have Become Confused about the True Facts Regarding This Important Matter! In this Blog Post I am Calling Upon the Prophets Mormon and Moroni who Both Were Involved in the Writing of the Book of Mormon, Another Testament of Jesus Christ, to Witness To Us the True Facts of this Controversial Matter! They Actually Lived in that Geography!

The Following Blog Description Explains Why My Blog has been renamed: "Four Books of Scripture Testify of Jesus Christ!

Jesus the Christ -by Del Parson

WELCOME, NEW  AND PREVIOUS VIEWERS OF THIS BLOG: In this and in every additional post of this blog you will be led on a carefully and prayerfully planned exciting and inspiring journey as you prepare by means of a guided study of the four sacred books of scripture I am shown holding above; which will assist you in becoming more righteously happy now and more fully prepared for eventual After-Mortality Eternal Endeavors on your part, along with your loved ones and countless other mortals who are seeking to qualify as our Heavenly Father's worthy children.

Those enabling Books of Scripture were brought about through the love of the Heavenly Father of our immortal spirits which now inhabit our mortal bodies; and were a key part of the Restoration of the Gospel, and of the Church of Jesus Christ through the Prophet Joseph Smith early in the Nineteenth Century. Also intimately  involved, and surely leading out in all of this, was of course, Our Heavenly Father's Only Begotten Son who is our Lord, Savior, and Redeemer, Jesus Christ (who initially was our eldest spirit brother and is the only one of us our Heavenly Father will have ever sired into mortality).

Jesus accomplished His infinite atonement, the Ultimate Mortal Sacrifice, along with His infallibly witnessed Resurrection. He is our Redeemer and Savior and has opened the way for each of us to learn with certainty through those four books of scripture, and through the inspired teachings of His prophets, seers and revelators of our day; that some time after our mortal deaths, thanks to His atonement and resurrection, we will each eventually experience eternal life in our own resurrected bodies, which in the case of those who truly heeded all of the scriptural and prophetic guidance, there will be full possession of Godly capabilities!

TODAY'S THEME

The Actual Book of Mormon Geography

Sunday June 16, 2013: The past two or three days while writing updates to my personal journal, I spent some time reviewing all of the scriptures I have been told about by others or personally found in the Book of Mormon, which describe the geography of the Book of Mormon lands which so many members of the Church, including perhaps some of my posterity who will some day read my personal journal;  have ignored or most likely just haven't felt the need to be interested in that subject. Here are the scriptures I have found through  my own Book of Mormon searching, or with the help of others.
"Alma 22:32. (The Prophet Mormon's writings) And now, it was only the distance of a day and a half's journey for a Nephite, on the line Bountiful and the land Desolation, from the east to the west sea; and thus the land of Nephi and the Land of Zarahemla were nearly surrounded by water, there being a small neck of land between the land northward and the land southward."
33. And it came to pass that the Nephites had inhabited the land Bountiful, even from the east  unto the west sea, and thus the Nephites in their wisdom, with their guards and their armies, had hemmed in the Lamanites on the south, that thereby they should have no more possession on the north, that they might not overrun the land northward."
Helaman 11:20: (The Prophet Mormon's writings:) "And thus it did come to pass that the people of Nephi began to prosper again in the land, and began to build up their waste places, and began to multiply and spread, even until they did cover the whole face of the land, both on the northward and on the southward, from the sea west to the sea east."
Helaman 4:7: (The Prophet Mormon's writings:) "And there they did fortify against the Lamanites, from the west sea, even unto the east; it being a day's journey for a Nephite, on the line which they had fortified and stationed their armies to defend their north county."
(You most likely noticed that Mormon, was describing the same basic geography of their lands as already described, namely the narrow strip of land (or passage) which connects the Southern portion of their lands where the Lamanites lived and the Northern portion of their lands where they, the Nephites lived, as indicated by:
Mormon 2:29: (The Prophet Mormon's writings:) "And the Lamanites did give unto us the land northward, yea even to the narrow passage which led into the land southward. And we did give unto the Lamanites all the land southward."
Describing what was done by a much earlier nation of refugees from the Tower of Babel, the Jaredites, who had occupied the same basic geography described above, Mormon's son, Moroni wrote:
Ether 10:20: "And they built a great city by the narrow neck of land, by the place where the sea divides the land."
Then there is this:
21: "And they did preserve the land southward for a wilderness, to get game. And the whole face of the land northward was covered with inhabitants" (Neil Birch's comment:) ,who were all Jaredites."

Satellite Image of Baja California, Mexico, overlaid with Book of Mormon Lands.

Most of you without even looking at a map of Mexico will most likely quickly realize that land which each of those scriptures from the Book of Mormon describes, is Baja California, which contains several agriculturally productive states of Present Day Mexico. That land, a peninsula, is very fertile and favored with very excellent weather! It is quite large and is listed by experts as one of the most fertile regions in the world.

There can be no doubt in any one's mind after reading those scriptures that the original Book of Mormon Lands were actually the land which is now the Baja California portion of Modern Day Mexico.

At the time of Christ's coming (soon after His resurrection in Jerusalem) to those lands, great destruction drastically changed some of the geography. However, that did not change the shape of their land or the position of the two seas which nearly surrounded their land! That is evidenced by Mormon, who lived after Christ's coming who very clearly personally describes the geography of Baja California in all but one of the scriptures quoted above. His son, Moroni described the same basic geography as it existed at a much earlier time, in that particular scripture.

There are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, some of whom are eminent scholars, who believe that the land where the Nephites and Lamanites originally lived is found in Mexico proper, and not in the Baja California portion of present day Mexico. They use maps on which there is a Sea North and a Sea South, instead of a Sea East and a Sea West which the Prophets Mormon and Moroni describe, and the "narrow neck of land" separating the Northern and Southern portions of that land where according to Mormon in Alma 22:32, a Nephite can walk it in a day and a half, or in the case of what is described in Helaman 4:7; in one day. It would actually take, according to those scholars' supposed geography, a large number of days to traverse."

We discover in that last mentioned scripture where we are told that the fortifications the Nephites built to better protect themselves from the hostile Lamanites to the South of that "Narrow Neck of Land", had without doubt straightened their road because of the linking of those fortifications, so that traveling then took only one day to walk that distance, while the supposed "professionally developed maps" indicate clearly that a larger number of days would be required in traversing that much longer distance which is indicated by their "map!" To sum up:
Book of Mormon geography is best described by the two prophets, Mormon and his son, Moroni, who wrote the history of the people who lived there in the Book of Mormon.
According to the maps most frequently shown in various books and at times, on the tack boards in Sunday School classes when the Book of Mormon is the subject matter, the narrow neck of land is shown to be at the very least, ninety to a hundred miles in length and so it definitely is not narrow and no Nephite or Lamanite, for that matter, could ever walk that distance in a day or in just a day and a half! Then again, it is not the scriptural: Seas West and East on those scholars' map, but instead a "Sea North and Sea South. (which cannot be explained by some hypothesized calendar change.")

One of our LDS ward's very excellent Sunday school teachers made the comment to me after class one Sunday after she had just taught one of our lessons from last year's (2012) Sunday School curriculum, that "we may never know during this life which map is correct!" As you no doubt can discern easily after reading my essay above, we should absolutely accept the truth that the correct original Book of Mormon Land is Baja California thanks to the accurate Book of Mormon scriptural descriptions written by the prophets Mormon and his son, Moroni who both actually lived there!

A professional geographer, Lynn Rosenvall founded the Olive Leaf Foundation and lives in Alberta, Canada.  His son, David who lives in Utah directs regular Informational sessions which are held at the Mexican Mormon Museum located just South of the LaVell Edwards BYU Stadium in Provo, Utah. They have led out in identifying Baja California as the original Book of Mormon Land. Lynn simply followed his professional geographic training in making that correct identification. How can we doubt their conclusions after reading the Book of Mormon scriptures which guided them?

Now in keeping with the plan of mine which is expressed in the Blog Description above, that Witnesses of God will bear witness of Jesus Christ and His Great Work which applies to each of you and to me to, we once again will turn to the Book of Mormon, Another Testament of Jesus Christ.  This will now happen, at first in written form in the case of the Great Prophet, Mormon and then you will be able to hear the words of Mormon's Son, the Great Nephite Prophet, Moroni.

Mormon's Last Day

The Following is the closing testimony of the Prophet Mormon to his people, the Nephites, not long before he was killed by the Lamanites: Dear Readers of this blog post, please apply these words to yourselves. You will be blessed for having done so!

Mormon 7: 5 Know ye that ye must come to the aknowledge of your fathers, and repent of all your sins and iniquities, and bbelieve in Jesus Christ, that he is the Son of God, and that he was slain by the Jews, and by the power of the Father he hath risen again, whereby he hath gained the cvictory over the grave; and also in him is the sting of death swallowed up.

6 And he bringeth to pass the aresurrection of the dead, whereby man must be raised to stand before his bjudgment-seat.

7 And he hath brought to pass the aredemption of the bworld, whereby he that is found cguiltless before him at the judgment day hath it given unto him to ddwell in the presence of God in his kingdom, to sing ceaseless praises with the echoirs above, unto the Father, and unto the Son, and unto the Holy Ghost, which are fone God, in a state of ghappiness which hath no end.

8 Therefore repent, and be baptized in the name of Jesus, and lay hold upon the agospel of Christ, which shall be set before you, not only in this record but also in the record which shall come unto the Gentiles bfrom the Jews,(The Holy Bible)  which record shall come from the Gentiles cunto you.

9 For behold, athis is bwritten for the intent that ye may cbelieve that; and if dye believe that ye will believe this also; and if ye believe this ye will know concerning your fathers, and also the marvelous works which were wrought by the power of God among them.
10 And ye will also know that ye are a aremnant of the seed of Jacob; therefore ye are numbered among the people of the first covenant; and if it so be that ye believe in Christ, and are baptized, firstbwith water, then with fire and with the Holy Ghost, following the cexample of our Savior, according to that which he hath commanded us, it shall be well with you in the day of judgment. Amen.

Moroni Burying the Plates, -By Tom Lovell

Now you will be blessed by hearing the words of Mormon's son, Moroni so you can apply them also to your lives. Moroni was not killed by the Lamanites. He survived and traveled from  what we call Baja California to far away New York eventually where he buried the Golden plates which the young prophet Joseph Smith would translate by the power for God to bring about the Book of Mormon, Another Testament of Jesus Christ, for our benefit! Moroni eventually appeared to young Joseph Smith as a resurrected person. Each of us will eventually be resurrected and hopefully we will be considered worthy to associate at that time with these three great men! The following link will allow you to listen to Moroni's inspired words which apply to each of you!

Post 46t: As My Relatively New Blog Title Indicates, I Will Continue to Emphasize How Each of the Four Books of Holy Scriptures Contain Much in the Way of Various Prophets' Teachings of the Divinity of Jesus Christ and How His Atonement and Resurrection Bless Our Lives! In Today's Blog Post I Turn to the Book of Mormon but at the Same Time Show How the Original Patriarch of the Nephite-Lamanite Nation, Lehi, Under Inspiration from God, Saw to it that the Version of Our Old Testament that They Had Access to Way Back in 600 B.C., Was Obtained (Through much devoted effort) from One of the Leading Men in Jerusalem, Laban, to be Brought With Them on Their Way to Their "Promised Land in the Western Hemisphere. Those Scriptures Contain Some of the Same Books that Our Old Testament Now Contains, but Also Some that are Not Seen or Even Mentioned in Our Old Testament:

The Following Blog Description Explains Why My Blog has been renamed: "Four Books of Scripture Testify of Jesus Christ!

TODAY'S THEME

Jacob 1:7 Wherefore we labored diligently among our people, that we might persuade them to come unto Christ, and partake of the goodness of God, that they might enter into his rest, lest by any means he should swear in his wrath they should not enter in, as in the provocation in the days of temptation while the children of Israel were in the wilderness. *
8 Wherefore, we would to God that we could persuade all men not to rebel against God, to provoke him to anger, but that all men would believe in Christ, and view his death, and suffer his cross and bear the shame of the world; wherefore, I, Jacob, take it upon me to fulfil the commandment of my brother Nephi. (emphasis added)

Moses Asks the Children of Israel to Gaze at the Brazen Serpent -by Judith Mehr

You may remember my using the picture above at the beginning of post 35e. I would like you to focus specifically on something in it that I didn't point out in that post.

Please notice that just beyond Moses there are members of the House of Israel who have turned and are walking away from him and the others who have fixed their eyes upon the brazen serpent toward which Moses is raising his right arm.

We must remember that those who were following Moses' instructions by staring at the brazen serpent which represented the sacrifice of Jesus Christ the Son of God, were healed from the effects of the bites of the poisonous serpents while those who refused to follow Moses' instructions were walking away only to soon die from the poisonous bites they had suffered.

Here is an important question I would like each of us, you and me, to ask ourselves: By what we have now been doing regarding keeping the commandments of our Savior, Jesus Christ, to which of the two groups of people depicted in the picture above do we belong? We owe it to ourselves and to our family members who love us, to be completely honest. Then we each need to live as we know we should live, without hesitating!

The following is additional testimony regarding Jesus Christ along with teachings about His gospel, by Jacob, the fifth son of Lehi and younger brother to Nephi. He certainly was one of Lehi's righteous and believing sons:
II Nephi 9:40 O, my beloved brethren, give ear to my words. Remember the greatness of the Holy One of Israel. Do not say that I have spoken hard things against you; for if ye do, ye will revile against the truth; for I have spoken the words of your Maker. I know that the words of truth are hard against all uncleanness; but the righteous fear them not, for they love the truth and are not shaken.
41 O then, my beloved brethren, come unto the Lord, the Holy One. Remember that his paths are righteous. Behold, the way for man is narrow, but it lieth in a straight course before him, and the keeper of the gate is the Holy One of Israel; and he employeth no servant there; and there is none other way save it be by the gate; for he cannot be deceived, for the Lord God is his name.
42 And whoso knocketh, to him will he open; and the wise, and the learned, and they that are rich, who are puffed up because of their learning, and their wisdom, and their riches—yea, they are they whom he despiseth; and save they shall cast these things away, and consider themselves fools before God, and come down in the depths of humility, he will not open unto them.
43 But the things of the wise and the prudent shall be hid from them forever—yea, that happiness which is prepared for the saints.
There again was Jacob's strong witness of the Son of God, Jesus Christ and of the importance of following Him. Now here is the last quote of Jacob's testifying I will give you in this post. Please feel the power and truthfulness of his testimony. Please also note the accuracy of his prophecy.
II Nephi 10:1 AND now I, Jacob, speak unto you again, my beloved brethren, concerning this righteous branch of which I have spoken.
2 For behold, the promises which we have obtained are promises unto us according to the flesh; wherefore, as it has been shown unto me that many of our children shall perish in the flesh because of unbelief, nevertheless, God will be merciful unto many; and our children shall be restored, that they may come to that which will give them the true knowledge of their Redeemer.
3 Wherefore, as I said unto you, it must needs be expedient that Christ—for in the last night the angel spake unto me that this should be his name—should come among the Jews, among those who are the more wicked part of the world; and they shall crucify him—for thus it behooveth our God, and there is none other nation on earth that would crucify their God.
4 For should the mighty miracles be wrought among other nations they would repent, and know that he be their God.
5 But because of priestcrafts and iniquities, they at Jerusalem will stiffen their necks against him, that he be crucified.
Thank you Jacob! Thank you dear readers for trusting me to review correctly, important teachings of a prophet of the Lord Jesus Christ which will benefit both you and me.

Following the asterisk * I inserted in TODAY'S THEME down to the asterisk you have just seen in this sentence, you will learn some additional key information if you have time now or perhaps you might return later.

I inserted the asterisk (*) in TODAY'S THEME where Jacob had referred to: "as in the provocation in the days of temptation while the children of Israel were in the wilderness." Now if you were wondering how Father Lehi's family could know about such Old Testament information, long before the Old Testament had been put together as a book, I would like you to know that Jacob and all of his father, Lehi's family possessed many of the same books which are in our Old Testament along with a significant number of additional books we know not of. These scriptures had a significant influence on Lehi, his believing children and on their posterity.

Lehi and his family were able to bring that set of scriptures with them to their promised land in Ancient America only by the guidance of the Spirit of the Lord. They were even assisted by a holy angel. The key to their eventual success was the faith and determination of Nephi, Lehi's fourth son along with the support of his brother, just older than him, Sam. The four brothers endured incredible difficulties by going back to Jerusalem where they finally, through much tribulation, were able to obtain thePlates of Brass on which the inspired records where engraven.

You may want to come back to these scriptural links later. You may already be familiar with them, but if not, here are the three scriptures to read I Nephi, chapters 3, 4 and 5. If you haven't read them before you will be surprised how fascinating is Nephi's account of this challenging task he and his brother, Sam faced bravely. You can choose to listen to each of these scriptural quotes:

Post 46s: One of the Many Prophets of our Lord, Jesus Christ, Abinadi Who Was a Prophet in Ancient America, as Recorded in the Book of Mormon, Another Testament of Jesus Christ, Testified Very Boldly of His and Our Lord, Jesus Christ Who Was to Be Born Into the World. He Was Put to Death by the Unrighteous King and His Court. Abinadi's Fortitude in the Face of Imminent Death is a Great Example of a True Witness of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!

The Following Blog Description Explains Why My Blog has been renamed: "Four Books of Scripture Testify of Jesus Christ!

Jesus the Christ -by Del Parson

TODAY'S THEME

Abinadi Appears before King Noah and His Court -by Arnold Friberg

(painted by world renown artist, Arnold Friberg - a faithful Mormon - who did the award winning art work for the Cecil B. DeMille Movie, The Ten Commandments).
The painting above pictures an event which took place in the court room of Noah, king of an offshoot nation of Nephites which actually began with Noah’s father, King Zeniff, who with some followers had left the city, Zarahemla where Mosiah, Benjamin's father, then Benjamin and his son, Mosiah, reigned over a period of time as righteous kings. Zeniff, Noah's father discovered the Land of “Lehi-Nephi” after much difficult searching.

The Land Lehi-Nephi was where the first Nephi, Lehi's fourth son, had settled (in about 550 B.C.) after he and his people left their land located near the land of the Lamanites, ruled by his rebellious brothers, Laman and Lemuel. Nephi and his people desired to live in peace!

What you will read in the scriptural link found after the next four paragraphs after this one may sound to you like something which might have taken place in Israel not long after Lehi, (in about 600 B.C.) along with his company of relatives and a friend were led away from Jerusalem towards the safety and hoped forrighteousness of their promised land in ancient Central America.

Because of the degree of wickedness of the nation from which Lehi and his party fled, the Lord allowed the nation of Babylon to conquer them, Israel, killing many of its citizens and taking many others into captivity into Babylon where they were held in much sorrow and anguish for many years.

You will find the history of these circumstances recorded in the Old Testament (Book of Daniel and in other books).

In the scriptural link, coming up after this and the following paragraph, is described the extent of the corruption of these Nephite leaders which caused the Lord, two years later to send His prophet, Abinadi, for the second time to set them straight.

Abinadi is shown at that later date in the painting above, addressing the court while in chains. These events took place, according to footnotes in the Book of Mormon record, in [about 148 B.C.]

In the painting above it is easy to recognize King Noah sitting on his expensive throne. He is surrounded by his priests. As In ancient Israel, from which this people's main ancestor, Lehi and those who came with him, had fled, their government, although being led by a king, was governed by leaders who were supposed to be spiritual men who served as priests and who were supposed to teach righteousness. In Mosiah 11: 1-19 we learn the truth about that! (Feel free to click the Listen button on this scripture!) Do not read and listen past verse 19. You will do that later.

Abinadi “had come (forward) from among this people” two years earlier than the events that took place in the courtroom scene depicted above to call his fellow citizens to repentance on behalf of the Lord. Please read the scriptural quote below to learn what was recorded about that earlier time when Abinadi first spoke up against the evil the King and his priests had led the people into, before Abinadi escaped to avoid (at least at that time) being killed by them.

You will need to scroll down to verse 20 where you will begin reading. You won't be able to listen this time!

Two years later, at the time the courtroom scene shown above took place, Abinadi came in disguise but soon was recognized. He had been sent by the Lord this time for a very special outcomewhich will be made clear near the end of this post.

It will become obvious as you read this account in the Book of Mormon, that Abinadi knew through the Spirit of God within him what King Noah and his priests' response would be and that it would result in his own death.

Despite that, having an assigned message, like other ancient Israelite prophets, Abinadi did what the Lord wanted him to do despite his knowing that this would be the last thing he would do in in this present life.

Somewhere among the king’s priests shown in the painting above, was a young priest named Alma, who at some period in his life, became the father of Alma the Younger who was called to repentance years later, in a different land, by an Angel of the Lord. In a later post, you will learn about Alma the Younger.

This elder Alma, the priest, at the time the Lord sent Abinadi for the second time, was continuing to live knee deep in wickedness. The Book of Mormon doesn’t go into details about the life this Alma was living, but describes all the priests’ general mode of life. It was included in the first of the last two links. Please read these three verses which describe in particular detail How Noah's priests lived.
Mosiah 11:5 For he put down all the priests that had been consecrated by his father, and consecrated new ones in their stead, such as were lifted up in the pride of their hearts.
6 Yea, and thus they were supported in their laziness, and in their idolatry, and in their whoredoms, by the taxes which king Noah had put upon his people; thus did the people labor exceedingly to support iniquity.
7 Yea, and they also became idolatrous, because they were deceived by the vain and flattering words of the king and priests; for they did speak flattering things unto them.
Now let’s get right into the account of how this valiant and brave Abinadi after having returned, found himself in a very dangerous situation where he was to do just that which the Lord wanted him to do. You'll learn soon what that was and also the great purpose behind it.

Scroll up to the court room scene again unless your memory serves you better than mine does me.

Abinadi is the epitome of a prophet of the Lord. He’s doing what the Lord wanted him to do regardless of his own personal outcome. You can feel the spirit of Abinadi by just looking at him in that painting Now read this next scripture where Abinadi prophesied "among the people" after having not been openly among them for two years. I now quote part of Mosiah Chapter 12.
Mosiah 12:1 AND it came to pass that after the space of two years that Abinadi came among them in disguise, that they knew him not, and began to prophesy among them, saying: Thus has the Lord commanded me, saying—Abinadi, go and prophesy unto this my people, for they have hardened their hearts against my words; they have repented not of their evil doings; therefore, I will visit them in my anger, yea, in my fierce anger will I visit them in their iniquities and abominations.
2 Yea, wo be unto this generation! And the Lord said unto me: Stretch forth thy hand and prophesy, saying: Thus saith the Lord, it shall come to pass that this generation, because of their iniquities, shall be brought into bondage, and shall be smitten on the cheek; yea, and shall be driven by men, and shall be slain; and the vultures of the air, and the dogs, yea, and the wild beasts, shall devour their flesh.
3 And it shall come to pass that the life of king Noah shall be valued even as a garment in a hot furnace; for he shall know that I am the Lord.
4 And it shall come to pass that I will smite this my people with sore afflictions, yea, with famine and with pestilence; and I will cause that they shall howl all the day long.
5 Yea, and I will cause that they shall have burdens lashed upon their backs; and they shall be driven before like a dumb ass.
And it shall come to pass that I will send forth hail among them, and it shall smite them; and they shall also be smitten with the east wind; and insects shall pester their land also, and devour their grain.
7 And they shall be smitten with a great pestilence—and all this will I do because of their iniquities and abominations.
8 And it shall come to pass that except they repent I will utterly destroy them from off the face of the earth; yet they shall leave a record behind them, and I will preserve them for other nations which shall possess the land; yea, even this will I do that I may discover the abominations of this people to other nations. And many things did Abinadi prophesy against this people.
After Abinadi had made the above prophecy, we are told that he was bound and brought before King Noah. Most likely the following interaction between Abinadi, the king and the priests took place in the court room pictured above. The young priest, Alma, was surely among them. Now please read these passages of scripture. You will be reading about the discussion that took place between Abinadi, and the king and his priests:
Mosiah 12:18 And it came to pass that they said unto the king: Bring him hither that we may question him; and the king commanded that he should be brought before them.
19 And they began to question him, that they might cross him, that thereby they might have wherewith to accuse him; but he answered them boldly, and withstood all their questions, yea, to their astonishment; for he did withstand them in all their questions, and did confound them in all their words.
20 And it came to pass that one of them said unto him: What meaneth the words which are written, and which have been taught by our fathers, saying:
21 How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings; that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good; that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth;
22 Thy watchmen shall lift up the voice; with the voice together shall they sing; for they shall see eye to eye when the Lord shall bring again Zion;
23 Break forth into joy; sing together ye waste places of Jerusalem; for the Lord hath comforted his people, he hath redeemed Jerusalem;
24 The Lord hath made bare his holy arm in the eyes of all the nations, and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God?
25 And now Abinadi said unto them: Are you priests, and pretend to teach this people, and to understand the spirit of prophesying, and yet desire to know of me what these things mean?
26 I say unto you, wo be unto you for perverting the ways of the Lord! For if ye understand these things ye have not taught them; therefore, ye have perverted the ways of the Lord.
27 Ye have not applied your hearts to understanding; therefore, ye have not been wise. Therefore, what teach ye this people?
28 And they said: We teach the law of Moses.
29 And again he said unto them: If ye teach the law of Moses why do ye not keep it? Why do ye set your hearts upon riches? Why do ye commit whoredoms and spend your strength with harlots, yea, and cause this people to commit sin, that the Lord has cause to send me to prophesy against this people, yea, even a great evil against this people?
30 Know ye not that I speak the truth? Yea, ye know that I speak the truth; and you ought to tremble before God.
31 And it shall come to pass that ye shall be smitten for your iniquities, for ye have said that ye teach the law of Moses. And what know ye concerning the law of Moses? Doth salvation come by the law of Moses? What say ye?
32 And they answered and said that salvation did come by the law of Moses.
33 But now Abinadi said unto them: I know if ye keep the commandments of God ye shall be saved; yea, if ye keep the commandments which the Lord delivered unto Moses in the mount of Sinai, saying:
34 I am the Lord thy God, who hath brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
35 Thou shalt have no other God before me.
36 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing in heaven above, or things which are in the earth beneath.
37 Now Abinadi said unto them, Have ye done all this? I say unto you, Nay, ye have not. And have ye taught this people that they should do all these things? I say unto you, Nay, ye have not.
Now, I want you to now recall with my assistance, the essence of what I wrote in Post 1 (Mar. 16, 2008) of this blog where the “scholar”, Professor Alex Caldiero, in the PBS Television Video, “The Mormons”
Professor Alex Caldiero, Utah Valley State University
told the world how every time he reads the Book of Mormon he sees the personality of the poor and uneducated farm-boy, Joseph Smith, coming through in what is written.

As you can easily see this man must never have read this part of the Book of Mormon.(or any other part of it.) How could what you have been reading be anything but solid history written by prophets in their own language and then translated by Joseph Smith by the gift and power of God as Dr. Dan Peterson of B.Y.U. reaffirms in his video in Post 4 and repeated again in Post 8.

King Noah, after hearing the passionate and true message of Abinadi, ordered his courtiers to kill Abinadi. Then this valiant, magnificent prophet told them that God would kill them if they took his life before he had delivered his full message.
Mosiah 13:5 Now it came to pass after Abinadi had spoken these words that the people of king Noah durst not lay their hands on him, for the Spirit of the Lord was upon him; and his face shone with exceeding luster, even as Moses' did while in the mount of Sinai, while speaking with the Lord.
6 And he spake with power and authority from God; and he continued his words, saying:
7 Ye see that ye have not power to slay me, therefore I finish my message. Yea, and I perceive that it cuts you to your hearts because I tell you the truth concerning your iniquities.
8 Yea, and my words fill you with wonder and amazement, and with anger.
9 But I finish my message; and then it matters not whither I go, if it so be that I am saved.
10 But this much I tell you, what you do with me, after this, shall be as a type and a shadow of things which are to come.
11 And now I read unto you the remainder of the commandments of God, for I perceive that they are not written in your hearts; I perceive that ye have studied and taught iniquity the most part of your lives.
I don’t have the space to quote all of the words of Abinadi or of the king and his priests. When you have time I would like you to consider reading all of Chapters 9-17 of the Book of Mosiah, (of the Book of Mormon, Another Testament of Jesus Christ.) Recorded in those chapters there are a good number of very remarkable Gospel sermons delivered by Abinadi to King Noah and his people.

Those sermons reveal a great understanding of, and a love for, the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We might well ask, where did this committed true prophet, Abinadi gain his superior knowledge of the Gospel and when did he decide to dedicate himself to totally serving the Lord?
King Benjamin Preaches to the Nephites in Zarahemla, the land from which King Noah's father, Zeniff, and others migrated to the Land, Lehi-Nephi, where Zeniff and then Noah served as king -by Gary Kapp
Possibly, (and I have no scriptural evidence of this), Abinadi could have learned the Gospel of Jesus Christ about 24 years before, along with his family by hearing King Benjamin's very spiritually strong sermon delivered from a tower erected near the Temple of the Lord.

King Benjamin's sermon was delivered as he prepared to give up his kingdom to his son, Mosiah. Along with learning the Gospel of Jesus Christ from King Benjamin, from what we have learned of Abinadi's spiritual character, had he been present at that very important event in Nephite history surely he would also have covenanted to serve the Lord Jesus Christ, with all his heart and soul along with all of the other subjects of King Benjamin as described in the scripture linked below. Now just two more verses from the time of King Benjamin's sermon at the Temple in Zarahemla:
Mosiah 6: 1 AND now, king Benjamin thought it was expedient, after having finished speaking to the people, that he should take the names of all those who had entered into a covenant with God to keep his commandments.
2 And it came to pass that there was not one soul, except it were little children, but who had entered into the covenant and had taken upon them the name of Christ. (emphasis added)
I expect that many of you readers of this blog post, along with me, would believe that possibly one of the names to be found on that list of covenant makers who had taken upon them the name of Christ on that sacred occasion might have been:
ABINADI, son of . . . .
Now we go back to the account of the people of King Noah. We are told something very significant, something which would bring much good eventually from this challenging piece of Nephite history. Please read these four significant verses:

Mosiah 17:1 AND now it came to pass that when Abinadi had finished these sayings, that the king commanded that the priests should take him and cause that he should be put to death.
2 But there was one among them whose name was Alma, he also being a descendant of Nephi. And he was a young man, and he believed the words which Abinadi had spoken, for he knew concerning the iniquity which Abinadi had testified against them; therefore he began to plead with the king that he would not be angry with Abinadi, but suffer that he might depart in peace.
3 But the king was more wroth, and caused that Alma should be cast out from among them, and sent his servants after him that they might slay him.
4 But he fled from before them and hid himself that they found him not. And he being concealed for many days did write all the words which Abinadi had spoken.(emphasis added)
The young first Alma, believed in Abinadi’s words. What a significant event! This wicked priest would soon become a righteous prophet. Most importantly, as you have just learned from that scripture, this Alma recorded all the words that Abinadi had spoken to them. This event, in my opinion, is a very important part of the very special purpose for the Lord having sent Abinadi to preach after being away for two years, for the second time, to King Noah and his priests.

In my humble opinion, knowing that I am not a great scriptural expert, this is perhaps one of the most significant positive turning points in all of Nephite history, perhaps second only to the appearance and ministry of the Resurrected Jesus Christ when he came among the Nephite- Lamanites who were spared from destruction by seismic forces that occurred not long after the time of the crucifixion and death of our Savior in Jerusalem.

And it was this one young priest, Alma the elder, that began this great turn of events because he believed in Abinadi's inspired words to the extent that he wrote them all for himself and the others who believed as he did for guidance in their lives.

To me, the name Abinadi, is a most sacred name, as is the name,Alma who allowed the Spirit of the Lord to penetrate his heart allowing him to become a very significant prophet-leader.

You are now viewing another painting done byBrother Arnold Friberg. You will see here Alma, the First, the converted priest of Noah, baptizing in a secret place, The Waters of Mormon, where they couldn't be easily detected by King Noah's soldiers.

This was a strong, new beginning of the Church of Christ in the ancient Americas which grew and prospered, with, at times, ups and downs, for a good long time leading up to the time of the appearance of Christ in America just after His resurrection.

I now end this somewhat lengthy, but very significant review of Book of Mormon scriptures with the parting testimony of that precious prophet, Abinadi. Tears come to my eyes as I think of what he said and did.  It is a testimony of the Lord Jesus Christ (recorded by Alma the former priest of King Noah who believed in and recorded all the words taught by Abinadi.

I strongly suggest that you click on the Listen Button when this chapter comes up: Mosiah, Chapter 16

Now after your reading and listening to the testimony of Abinadi, please read about what was done by the king and his priests to this great prophet despite the testimony he had born to them. Again, you would do well to Listen as well as read this Book of Mormn scripture.

Notice in verse 11 of Chapter 17, King Noah was just about to release Abinadi, but the priests caused him to change his mind.

We love you, Abinadi, and look forward to meeting you in the Spirit World after we leave this life. We know your place in the Celestial World is secure. We each pray ours will be also!

Post 46r: This Blog Post of Mine Has Just Been Published on Friday, May 31, 2013. On March 31, of this Year, Only Two Months Ago, We Celebrated Easter. Once Again Our Blog Post Theme Will Be an Easter Theme, However, I Invite You to Begin Realizing, If You Haven't Already Done So, that Reviewing What Our Savior Jesus Christ Has Done For Us Is Always a Timely Subject No Matter How Far Away The Past Easter or the Next Easter May Be, It is Always a Correct Time to Remember His Atoning Sacrifice and His Ultimate Love for Each One of Us! One Week Ago Today I Published a Post Which Emphasized How Father Abraham Worshiped God By Showing His Willingness to Do His Will Even to the Point of Sacrificing His Only Son Isaac Because God Had Commanded Him to Do So! You Surely Remember From that Blog Post or From Your Knowledge of the Scriptures that Although Heavenly Father Stopped His Faithful Servant Abraham From Sacrificing His Only Son, Isaac, that Heavenly Father Was Not to Be Spared Having His Only Begotten Mortal Son Sacrificed In Order to Bring About His Resurrection and Eventually the Resurrection of Each One of Us! I Pray That While Viewing this Blog Post You Will Express Your Deep Gratitude to Our Heavenly Father for His Having Allowed His Only Begotten Mortal Son to Die For Us! I Pray That Each of Us, You and Me Will Feel an Everlasting Gratitude for that Ultimate Sacrifice Our Heavenly Father Made For Us! You Will End this Post by Viewing a Video Depicting the Crucifixion of Your and My Savior Jesus Christ Which Our Heavenly Father and His Only Begotten Mortal Son Allowed to Happen for Our Eternal Benefit! It is Narrated by One of Our Savior's Presently Living Twelve Apostles, a Living Witness of Our Savior Jesus Christ's Divinity, Elder Jeffrey R. Holland.
