Mormon Abridging The Plates, -by Tom Lovell

Book of Mormon, Mormon: 5:8 And now behold, I, Mormon, do not desire to harrow up the souls of men in casting before them such an awful scene of blood and carnage as was laid before mine eyes; but I, knowing that these things must surely be made known, and that all things which are hid must be revealed upon the house-tops—

9 And also that a knowledge of these things must come unto the remnant of these people, and also unto the Gentiles, who the Lord hath said should scatter this people, and this people should be counted as naught among them—therefore I write a small abridgment, daring not to give a full account of the things which I have seen, because of the commandment which I have received, and also that ye might not have too great sorrow because of the wickedness of this people.

10 And now behold, this I speak unto their seed, and also to the Gentiles who have care for the house of Israel, that realize and know from whence their blessings come.

11 For I know that such will sorrow for the calamity of the house of Israel; yea, they will sorrow for the destruction of this people; they will sorrow that this people had not repented that they might have been clasped in the arms of Jesus.

12 Now these things are written unto the remnant of the house of Jacob; and they are written after this manner, because it is known of God that wickedness will not bring them forth unto them; and they are to be hid up unto the Lord that they may come forth in his own due time.

Once again I have used the words of the Prophet Mormon regarding the descendants of his people and our interactions with them in our day and time on earth.

Please note according to Mormon's inspired record, that in our present day, The Book of Mormon, Another Testament of Jesus Christ, was to come forth to us, the Gentiles in the Lord's "own due time."

As Mormon told us in verse 10, his record would come to his peoples' descendants and to "those others of us who live in the Latter-days of the earth's history who care about the welfare of the people of the house of Israel, and who realize and appreciate from where our own blessings come."

Now in this blog post you will see clear evidence that what Mormon prophesied would happen in the Latter-days (our time on earth) is actually taking place right now!

Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are actively and effectively assisting descendants of Mormon's people whom we often refer to as: "Lamanites" but they are a mixture of Nephites and Lamanites and are descendants of Mormon's people.

The link below, when clicked upon will give you a sequence of "pages" to click on to read what is being done in Guatemala now by members of the "LDS" Church to improve their rugged and impoverished circumstances and to allow their children to attend school regularly!

Please take the time to click on the number (1 through 7) of each of the "pages" and read them all. They are each quite short and doesn't take much time to read all seven "pages."

At the end of what you read you will be told that "next Monday (July 18, 2011) " there will be another "page" that will delve into how the LDS Church is helping them solve the problem of deforestation.

I plan to link you to that next "page" in my July 19th blog post. It appears that miracles are beginning to take place in that Guatemalan village. It will be the kind of thing the prophet Mormon who is quoted above, would expect in our day because the "Gentiles" (Us). who realize from where our blessings come (from God), are reaching out effectively to the Lamanites who have great needs.

I urge you to scroll back up to the Book of Mormon quote at the beginning of this post. In it it is predicted that the descendants of the Nephite-Lamanite inhabitants of Guatemala and elsewhere in the "promised land" will be blessed at the hands of caring Gentiles. It is exciting to me to see those promises made anciently through the Spirit of the Lord being fulfilled in our day by the Lord's Restored Church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

I have two related themes today:

1. The importance of family to each of us.

2. The importance of the Fourth of July Celebration in the United States of America.

In my view these two themes are linked together. Our national freedom allows families to function freely and to truly be great blessings to each of us. I know that this applies also to you who live in many other nations of this world.

The professional entertainer Donny Osmond and the rest of his family have been in the spotlight in the U.S.A. for many years. I hope each of you enjoy this video in which Donny emphasizes the great support parents can be to their children and also the great support our Savior, Jesus Christ can be to each of us!

Jesus Fasted and Prayed Forty Days in the Wilderness Preparing Himself to Serve the Ministry Which His Actual Father (Who is Also His and Our Heavenly Father) Had Sent Him to Perform.

The New Testament provides us with many examples of the Lord Jesus Christ praying as he fulfilled His earthly mission. He is an example to us in so many ways.

However, not many of us are able to fast and pray forty days, although Moses, Jesus' great prophet who led descendants of Jacob, son of Isaac, Israel out of Egyptian captivity and prepared them to enter the Holy Land which would become the Land of Israel, did that!

We should pray to the best of our ability, but I suggest we find in one of the Holy Scriptures, in this case in the Book of Mormon, Another Testament of Jesus Christ for an example of effective prayer, a male Israelite who was a close descendant of Father Lehi, perhaps a grandson or great grandson.

Lehi led a group of fellow Israelites, many of whom were his own family, out of Israel at God's command, (in about 600 B.C.) and through the miserably hot and often barren Arabian Peninsula, and across a large ocean and was guided constantly by God to ancient Meso-America where his descendants have lived ever since then and had come to inhabit much, if not all of the Americas until the Europeans and since then, many others have come also.
 
I've written a number of posts on Enos' great success in prayer despite his not having lived always the way he should have lived. His successful prayer wasn't one that included fasting and praying for forty days and nights as our Savior's preparatory fasting and praying was, but Enos did pray all day long!

I think you will come to appreciate the way you will be led by Enos' own words through his all-day prayer that was answered!
 
I don't want you to think all prayers should last all day long, but Enos' prayer did! However, there is much each one of us can learn from Enos' experience in prayer that will come to bless us more than we have ever imagined!
 
I appreciated the way I was able to lead each of us through Enos' experience to help us pray more effectively and receive the results we most need!

 Two days ago, June 19, FATHER'S DAY was celebrated in the United States of America and perhaps in your country too! Maybe in your country there is no certain day when fathers are honored and remembered.

Nonetheless, our fathers should be considered very important by each of us, whether they are still living or have already passed on to the other side of the "veil" (which is the case with my father).

I chose to feature the painting the great artist Rembrandt did of his own father. I like to think that he put special effort into showing his father as he really was. I think I see in his portrayal of him, great love and respect by a loving son.

Perhaps if each of us were great artists we would do a specially fine job of painting our own fathers.

I am not an artist. I wish I had those talents. However, I will have to do a painting of a different kind, writing about my own father: Philip John Birch with words of love.

Instead of writing something new I will link you to one of my favorite blog posts that I did about my father in December of last year.

In telling about my father I believe you will see the strokes of love as I use the paintbrush of writing about him.

Jesus Descends From the Sky to Appear to the Nephites in Ancient Central America (A.D. 34) - By Arnold Friberg



Brother of Jared Seeing the Finger of the Lord -By Arnold Friberg

Today's Theme Consists of an Overview of the History of the Nephite-Lamanite People of Ancient Central America as Seen Through the Eyes of a Prominent LDS Artist, Arnold Friberg (Recently deceased).

These paintings each depict true history as recorded by the ancient Prophet of the Lord Jesus Christ, Mormon who abridged the History of His people at the direction of the Lord Jesus Christ through the spirit of Prophecy and Revelation.

The one exception to this is the final painting in which is shown the vision of the Brother of Jared as he Saw the Finger of the Lord. This scene comes from the portion of the Book of Mormon inscribed by Mormon's Son, Moroni and comes from an ancient record found on metal plates by the Nephites earlier in their history, a small portion of which Moroni translated and added to the Book of Mormon which was primarily produced by his father Mormon.

I chose to show this overview of history which was recorded in the Book of Mormon, Another Testament of Jesus Christ prior to providing you with a very special experience:

Reading the statements of many people of our day and time who believe in the Book of Mormon, a book which has positively influenced their lives.

I assure you that coupled with the powerful scenes depicted by Arnold Friberg you will see very clearly that the Book of Mormon is comparable to the Bible, both the New and the Old Testaments and that making it a guide to your life is a very wise decision to make. I personally ask the Lord to bless you as you view these witnesses statements and the photos that come with them. I wish I knew each of you viewers of my blog personally.

The Words of an Angel Who Represents the Lord Jesus Christ, (Between 600 and 592 B.C.)   Book of Mormon, 1Nephi 14: 7 For the time cometh, saith the Lamb of God, that I will work a great and a marvelous work among the children of men; a work which shall be everlasting, either on the one hand or on the other—either to the convincing of them unto peace and life eternal, or unto the deliverance of them to the hardness of their hearts and the blindness of their minds unto their being brought down into captivity, and also into destruction, both temporally and spiritually, according to the captivity of the devil, of which I have spoken.

8 And it came to pass that when the angel had spoken these words, he said unto me (Nephi, son of Lehi) : Rememberest thou the covenants of the Father unto the house of Israel? I said unto him, Yea.

9 And it came to pass that he said unto me: Look, and behold that great and abominable church, which is the mother of abominations, whose founder is the devil.

13 And it came to pass that I beheld that the great mother of abominations did gather together multitudes upon the face of all the earth, among all the nations of the Gentiles, to fight against the Lamb of God.

14 And it came to pass that I, Nephi, beheld the power of the Lamb of God, that it descended upon the saints of the church of the Lamb, and upon the covenant people of the Lord, who were scattered upon all the face of the earth; and they were armed with righteousness and with the power of God in great glory.

Here is an article from the LDS Church News, Published June 4, 2011. You will read in this article an example of how the Church of the Lamb of God mentioned in verse 14 above is "armed with righteousness and with the power of God in great glory."

Now I provide another LDS Church News article. This one is on the subject of the 75th Anniversary of the Welfare Program of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It is through that program that assistance is now being provided throughout the entire world. This article provides evidence that this work of providing for the poor and needy has built up its strength to serve the needy throughout the world by a steadily growing and improving program throughout the past seventy-five years. Through this the aforementioned church is living up to what the angel, by the power of the Spirit of Prophecy and Revelation we reviewed rather intensely in the just previous set of three posts of mine: 42u, 42v and 42w. would expect of the Church of the Lamb of God.

TODAY'S THEME

(For those of you who may not know, the Lord is referring in the highlighted portion of verse 6 above, to the temple ordinances (baptisms, etc.)which can be done for our dead by proxy who did not have the privilege of being taught the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ during their life-times).

Therefore, if they accept the Gospel of Jesus Christ which is taught them in the Spirit World by those who represent the Lord there after they have left this mortal life, that necessary ordinance, along with other needed ordinances can be done vicariously here on earth for them (by proxy). - I especially enjoy doing the Baptism for the Dead Ordinance.

Passing the Sacrament (the water portion)

(Those of you viewers who may not be members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at this point in your lives, may not know that later on the Lord Jesus Christ instructed Joseph Smith through revelation to use water instead of wine along with the bread of the Sacrament.)

In the just previous post I was privileged to emphasize the great role the Nephite Prophet, Moroni (during his life in Ancient Central America) in hiding up his father, Mormon's Golden Plates and then taking the assignment from Jesus Christ as a resurrected Human Being, to prepare, many centuries later, the seventeen year old Joseph Smith for the role he was to play in bringing about the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ by so devotedly and perfectly playing his very key role in that Restoration.

Without Moroni's, having fully filled his assignment given him by our Savior, Jesus Christ  the Great Latter-day Work of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints would have never come about.

Through the divine wisdom of our Lord Jesus Christ, Moroni and Joseph Smith were the key figures in the great and true drama of the coming forth of the Book of Mormon, Another Testament of Jesus Christ. From that true life drama has come or will have come, to each of us if we seek such; Eternal Blessings, for which we can always be grateful.

In today's post Joseph Smith is to be featured. I will do that by giving you the opportunity to view a VIDEO.

You should be advised that the video lasts for one hour. I just finished viewing it for the very first time and know that it is something you will be glad you took the time to view and experience!

I was planning to feature a number of articles on the Welfare Program of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints which very recently celebrated its 75th Anniversary!  I most likely will begin a short series on that next Tuesday, June 7th.

I assure you that you will be glad you were able to view and experience this video soon after having just viewed my previous post in particular! I recommend that you begin right away viewing it.

You can put it on hold part way through it, if necessary, but you probably would enjoy it more by viewing it straight through. I have seen other videos and movies about the Prophet Joseph Smith, but this is the best of all of them in my humble opinion! I didn't take a single break while viewing it!
