Enos Prayed All Day Long -by unknown artist
12 And it came to pass that after I had prayed and labored with all diligence, the Lord said unto me: I will grant unto thee according to thy desires, because of thy faith.
13 And now behold, this was the desire which I desired of him—that if it should so be, that my people, the Nephites, should fall into transgression, and by any means be destroyed, and the Lamanites should not be destroyed, that the Lord God would preserve a record of my people, the Nephites; even if it so be by the power of his holy arm, that it might be brought forth at some future day unto the Lamanites, that, perhaps, they might be brought unto salvation—
14 For at the present our strugglings were vain in restoring them to the true faith. And they swore in their wrath that, if it were possible, they would destroy our records and us, and also all the traditions of our fathers.
15 Wherefore, I knowing that the Lord God was able to preserve our records, I cried unto him continually, for he had said unto me: Whatsoever thing ye shall ask in faith, believing that ye shall receive in the name of Christ, ye shall receive it.
16 And I had faith, and I did cry unto God that he would preserve the records; and he covenanted with me that he would bring them forth unto the Lamanites in his own due time.
17 And I, Enos, knew it would be according to the covenant which he had made; wherefore my soul did rest.
18 And the Lord said unto me: Thy fathers have also required of me this thing; and it shall be done unto them according to their faith; for their faith was like unto thine.

The prayers of faith of both Enos and his fathers helped to bring about the Book of Mormon, Another Testament of Jesus Christ.

Just very recently I refurbished my post 40v. I think each of you will enjoy participating in the experiencing this post which I feel gives due credit to this humble but yet significant Book of Mormon prophet who truly testified of the Lord Jesus Christ!

Doctrine and Covenants 25:12 For my soul delighteth in the song of the heart; yea, the song of the righteous is a prayer unto me, and it shall be answered with a blessing upon their heads.

Jesus the Christ -by Del Parson
I thank my fellow blogger, Mormon Soprano for making available this very touching and instructive video:

A video, "The Importance of Music"

King Benjamin in his final address to his people in Zarahemla implies very clearly that music plays a significant role in Heaven!
Book of Mormon, Mosiah 2:27 Therefore, as I said unto you that I had served you, walking with a clear conscience before God, even so I at this time have caused that ye should assemble yourselves together, that I might be found blameless, and that your blood should not come upon me, when I shall stand to be judged of God of the things whereof he hath commanded me concerning you.
28 I say unto you that I have caused that ye should assemble yourselves together that I might rid my garments of your blood, at this period of time when I am about to go down to my grave, that I might go down in peace, and my immortal spirit may join the choirs above in singing the praises of a just God.
29 And moreover, I say unto you that I have caused that ye should assemble yourselves together, that I might declare unto you that I can no longer be your teacher, nor your king; (These are from among King Benjamin's final words to his people, the Nephites (of about 124 B.C.) emphasis added)
Do you have any doubt that music plays an equally important role in Heaven as well as here on earth?

To me and perhaps to many of you also, many messages of the prophets of the Lord Jesus Christ have a definite musical ring to them. In this post as in my most recent other posts I have been emphasizing that which Book of Mormon prophets testified of the Lord Jesus Christ.

In the particular previous blog post of mine which I suggest you now experience you will learn the beauty and harmony of Eternal truth, of the marvelous gift of the Resurrection of the Dead, the gift to us from our Savior, Jesus Christ which will eventually bless you and me and all mankind eternally!

Perhaps you might agree with me that some of Alma the Younger's words have a musical lilt to them and could be put to music. Even though you may have experienced this post before, I think once again the inspired words of Alma the Younger will touch your hearts very tenderly and convincingly!

TODAY'S THEME

King Benjamin Preaches to the Nephites -by Gary Kapp

1 AND now, king Benjamin thought it was expedient, after having finished speaking to the people, that he should take the names of all those who had entered into a covenant with God to keep his commandments.
2 And it came to pass that there was not one soul, except it were little children, but who had entered into the covenant and had taken upon them the name of Christ.
3 And again, it came to pass that when king Benjamin had made an end of all these things, and had consecrated his son Mosiah to be a ruler and a king over his people, and had given him all the charges concerning the kingdom, and also had appointed priests to teach the people, that thereby they might hear and know the commandments of God, and to stir them up in remembrance of the oath which they had made, he dismissed the multitude, and they returned, every one, according to their families, to their own houses. (emphasis added)
Have you ever asked yourself, are there any examples found in the Book of Mormon of Nephites from King Benjamin's kingdom who stayed faithful to the sacred covenant which according to this scripture, each of those mature enough to do so, were exhorted by their king to so do?

In verse three above, it is mentioned that King Benjamin had appointed:
. . ."priests to teach the people, that thereby they might hear and know the commandments of God, and to stir them up in remembrance of the oath which they had made."
Surely, in my humble opinion, inasmuch as we are told in verse two above that all of the adults made that covenant, that on their own or with the help of King Benjamin's priests mentioned in the quote just above, strove mightily to live as they had covenanted. Most likely there were some who eventually fell away, but good King Benjamin appeared to have done everything possible to prevent that from happening, to the best of his great ability.

According to the approximate dates given in our Books of Mormon at the bottom of each page, about twenty four years had already concluded when we begin reading about King Noah who was living very unrighteously, and Abinadi who had developed into a prophet of the Lord Jesus Christ who was called upon by the Lord to seriously confront King Noah because of his wickedness and then to repeat that unsuccessful confrontation again two years later!

Remember, those Nephites were Israelites and were acting much like Israelites did back in their original homeland of Israel (Palestine) far from Central America to where the Lord God had directed them beginning in about 600 B.C.

Geographic information alluded to in the Book of Mormon leads me to surmise that King Zeniff who discovered and then stayed in the land of Lehi-Nephi where his direct ancestor Nephi, son of Lehi had moved to, (to avoid continuing open conflict with Nephi's stubborn older brothers Laman and Lemuel); was not unreasonably far from Zarahemla where King Benjamin's kingdom was located.

It seems reasonable to assume that there was subsequent contact between the people of Zarahemla (Kings Benjamin and Mosiah's land) and then King Zeniff's and subsequently King Noah's land, the land of Lehi-Nephi. This would have allowed for the Prophet Abinadi to have moved there from Zarahemla.

In answering my question (found just under the quote from verse 3 of above), I believe that possibly we have at the very least, the example of Abinadi to show that there was one Nephite who took his covenant with the Lord Jesus Christ very seriously which was urged upon them by their outgoing King Benjamin, seriously enough to have become a prophet of the Lord Jesus Christ (who was to eventually visit the Nephite-Lamanite people after His death and resurrection!)

Then we have the example of King Noah who willfully began living wickedly. It seems to me that there is evidence in the Book of Mosiah that Noah might have been a "spoiled Brat" of a basically righteous King who had gone through much time- consuming tribulation (thus neglecting to raise properly his son, Noah), to find the Land of "Lehi-Nephi" and then to settle there along with all of his people. The ages of the two, Abinadi and King Noah, are not given.

However, Arnold Friberg, a very fastidious painter, in his painting which I show in the main part of this post, appears to indicate that King Noah was much younger than Abinadi.

Possibly Noah was a young child and unable to make a covenant with the Lord that King Benjamin requested. We are told by the Prophet, Alma (the younger), in the Book of Mosiah Chapter 26: 1-5:
Mosiah 26: 1 NOW it came to pass that there were many of the rising generation that could not understand the words of king Benjamin, being little children at the time he spake unto his people; and they did not believe the tradition of their fathers.
2 They did not believe what had been said concerning the resurrection of the dead, neither did they believe concerning the coming of Christ.
3 And now because of their unbelief they could not understand the word of God; and their hearts were hardened.
4 And they would not be baptized; neither would they join the church. And they were a separate people as to their faith, and remained so ever after, even in their carnal and sinful state; for they would not call upon the Lord their God.
5 And now in the reign of Mosiah they were not half so numerous as the people of God; but because of the dissensions among the brethren they became more numerous.
In any event there were surely very many who took seriously the covenants they had made with the Lord at the suggestion of their loving and righteous king, Benjamin!

I will now give you the opportunity of viewing one of my past posts which I just refurbished in which I deal with Abinadi and King Noah. I'm confident that each of you, after experiencing that post, will praise the Lord that Abinadi kept the covenants which most likely had been urged upon him by his and his family's former king, Benjamin!

43g Each Present and Future Member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Must Ask: Why Is It so Important That the Divinity of Jesus Christ Has Been Borne Witness to for us by So Many Prophets Both In the Bible and Also in The Book Of Mormon? Is it Not Because Heavenly Father and His Beloved Son, Jesus Christ Want Each of Us to Realize More Fully We All Are Their Sons and Daughters and Rightful Heirs Through our Worthiness, of All That Which is Their's?

TODAY'S THEME

Jesus the Christ -by Del Parson

Romans 8: 15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.
18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
19 For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.
20 For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope,
21 Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.

The Apostle Paul Writing Scriptures -by Rembrandt
The great truth about our potential as full heirs of our Father in Heaven and His Son Jesus Christ is brought to light by one of my favorite scholars, Daniel Peterson, professor of Islamic Studies and Arabic at BYU- Provo, Utah (U.S.A.)

Joseph Smith's restoration of "theosis" was a miracle, not scandal!

Again, as we have been doing in several recent posts I will refer you to another of my past posts. In this case, to 41f in which the testifying of Jesus Christ by Book of Mormon Prophets is reviewed. As you experience this past post please keep in mind that which the Apostle Paul taught about those who are faithful to the Lord Jesus Christ  becoming joint heirs with Him and with His and Our Heavenly Father depending on our faithfulness to Them!

The Prophet Abinadi Appearing Before King Noah -by Arnold Friberg
In the Book of Mormon, Another Testament of Jesus Christ we find many accounts of Nephite prophets prophecying of the coming of Christ. One of my favorite accounts of such is that of the Prophet, Abinadi. The account I have chosen to give of him in this post occurred in about 148 B.C. somewhere in Central America.

I have chosen to begin this series of accounts by having you delve into my past post 35n which I have just revised.

In the upcoming blog posts I'll be producing I will select my favorite accounts of Book of Mormon Prophets testifying of the Coming of Christ.

In my just previous post we reviewed the important fact that the many prophecies of the coming of Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten (Mortal) Son of our Heavenly Father to atone for our sins is strongly established by Bible and Book of Mormon prophets, and also by apostles of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in our day!
