Post 47a: Once again I Take the Opportunity of Focusing on a Talk Given in a Very Recent General Conference of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In this Blog Post You Will Hear a Member of the First Presidency of that Church, Henry B. Eyring, Bear Personal Witness of Your and Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! I am Sure Each of You Viewers will be Edified! Adding to that Edification are a Good Number of Scriptures Which I Have, Along With One LDS Hymn, With Its Music, Made Accessible So You Can Sing It While Still Viewing this Blog Post! President Eyring Referred Those Scriptures and That Hymn to Us in His Notes Which are Found at the End of His Talk!

The Following Blog Description Explains Why My Blog is named: "Four Books of Scripture Testify of Jesus Christ!

Jesus the Christ -by Del Parson

WELCOME, NEW  AND PREVIOUS VIEWERS OF THIS BLOG: In this and in every additional post of this blog you will be led on a carefully and prayerfully planned exciting and inspiring journey as you prepare by means of a guided study of the four sacred books of scripture I am shown holding above; which will assist you in becoming more righteously happy now and more fully prepared for eventual After-Mortality Eternal Endeavors on your part, along with your loved ones and countless other mortals who are seeking to qualify as our Heavenly Father's worthy children.

Those enabling Books of Scripture were brought about through the love of the Heavenly Father of our immortal spirits which now inhabit our mortal bodies; and were a key part of the Restoration of the Gospel, and of establishing The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, through the Prophet Joseph Smith early in the Nineteenth Century. Leading out in all of this, was of course, Our Heavenly Father's Only Begotten Son who is our Lord, Savior, and Redeemer, Jesus Christ (who initially was our eldest spirit brother and is the only one of us our Heavenly Father will have ever sired into mortality).

Jesus accomplished His Infinite Atonement, the Ultimate Mortal Sacrifice, along with His infallibly witnessed Resurrection. He is our Redeemer and Savior and has opened the way for each of us to learn with certainty through those four books of scripture, and through the inspired teachings of His prophets, seers and revelators of our day and those authorized by them; that some time after our mortal deaths, because of His atonement and resurrection, and depending on the level of individual rightousness we each attain to, through His grace, we can eventually experience Eternal Life in our own resurrected bodies, which in the case of those who fully heeded all of His scriptural guidance and the guidance of His authorized living servants, there will be full possession of Godly capabilities! TODAY'S THEME:

Henry B. Eyring of the First Presidency of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
You are now invited to listen also while reading the April 2013 Conference Talk of President Eyring:

May 2013 Ensign entitled: "Come Unto Me"

(You will need to click on the the word: Listen after you have clicked on that which is just below)

http://www.lds.org.uk/ensign/2013/05/come-unto-me?lang=eng

The following was put together by Neil Birch using the NOTES President Eyring listed at the end of his General Conference talk: They will help you remember and perhaps more fully appreciate the things he told us in his talk and help you treasure up those things as sacred and helpful guides in your lives!

Jesus the Christ -by Del Parson

Doctrine and Covenants 88:63  Draw near unto me and I will draw near unto you; seek me diligently and ye shall find me; ask, and ye shall receive; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.

Doctrine and Covenants 6:20  "Behold, thou art Oliver, and I have spoken unto thee because of thy desires; therefore treasure up these words in thy heart. Be faithful and diligent in keeping the commandments of God, and I will encircle thee in the arms of my love." (although spoken to Oliver Cowdery all of the above sacred words in blue apply to each of us too!)

Words and music to "Abide with Me; "Tis Eventide" #65 LDS Hymn Book (You are invited to sing along as you listen to the recording and read the words and the musical notes on your screen. The page will shift by itself. Just sing any part you choose to sing. For me, as I previewed this blog post of mine I sang the Tenor part but am a Baritone!) Of course, you will be thinking of our Savior, Jesus Christ as you sing those inspired words!

Luke 24: (Angels announce the resurrection of Christ: 5-7)  5 And as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead?

6 He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee,

7 Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.

Mark 16:7 But go your way, tell his disciples and Peter that he goeth before you into Galilee: there shall ye see him, as he said unto you.

The Resurrected Jesus Visits With Some of His Disciples at EMMAUS. At first they do not recognize Him!

The Resurrected Jesus visits with His Disciples at Emmaus  -by Duccio di Buoninsegna

Luke 24:15 And it came to pass, that, while they communed together and reasoned, Jesus himself drew near, and went with them.

16 But their eyes were holden that they should not know him.

17 And he said unto them, What manner of communications are these that ye have one to another, as ye walk, and are sad?

18 And the one of them, whose name was Cleopas, answering said unto him, Art thou only a stranger in Jerusalem, and hast not known the things which are come to pass there in these days?

Luke 24:

25 Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken:

26 Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory?

27 And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.

Luke 24:28 And they drew nigh unto the village, whither they went: and he made as though he would have gone further.

29 But they constrained him, saying, Abide with us: for it is toward evening, and the day is far spent. And he went in to tarry with them.

I, Neil Birch, the blogger, added these four verses:

Luke 24:30 And it came to pass, as he sat at meat with them, he took bread, and blessed it, and brake, and gave to them.

31 And their eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he vanished out of their sight.

32 And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures?

33 And they rose up the same hour, and returned to Jerusalem, and found the eleven gathered together, and them that were with them,

Behold My Hands and Feet. -by Harry Anderson

Luke 24:46 And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:

47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

48 And ye are witnesses of these things.

Now we turn to President Eyring's references from the Book of Mormon, Another Testament of Jesus Christ.

Alma Baptizing in the Waters of Mormon. -Arnold Friberg

Mosiah 18:8 And it came to pass that he said unto them: Behold, here are the waters of Mormon (for thus were they called) and now, as ye are desirous to come into the fold of God, and to be called his people, and are willing to bear one another’s burdens, that they may be light;

9 Yea, and are willing to mourn with those that mourn; yea, and comfort those that stand in need of comfort, and to stand as witnesses of God at all times and in all things, and in all places that ye may be in, even until death, that ye may be redeemed of God, and be numbered with those of the first resurrection, that ye may have eternal life—

10 Now I say unto you, if this be the desire of your hearts, what have you against being baptized in the name of the Lord, as a witness before him that ye have entered into a covenant with him, that ye will serve him and keep his commandments, that he may pour out his Spirit more abundantly upon you?

11 And now when the people had heard these words, they clapped their hands for joy, and exclaimed: This is the desire of our hearts.

Christ's Image. -by Heinrich Hofmann.

President Eyring also included these references:
Doctrine and Covenants 84:88  And whoso receiveth you, there I will be also, for I will go before your face. I will be on your right hand and on your left, and my Spirit shall be in your hearts, and mine angels round about you, to bear you up.

Doctrine and Covenants 100:VERILY, thus saith the Lord unto you, my friends Sidney and Joseph, your families are well; they are in mine hands, and I will do with them as seemeth me good; for in me there is all power.

and this one also:

Mosiah 27:14 And again, the angel said: Behold, the Lord hath heard the prayers of his people, and also the prayers of his servant, Alma, who is thy father; for he has prayed with much faith concerning thee that thou mightest be brought to the knowledge of the truth; therefore, for this purpose have I come to convince thee of the power and authority of God, that the prayers of his servants might be answered according to their faith.

Doctrine and Covenants 14: 6 Seek to bring forth and establish my Zion. Keep my commandments in all things.

7 And, if you keep my commandments and endure to the end you shall have eternal life, which gift is the greatest of all the gifts of God.

Doctrine and Covenants 59: 2 For those that live shall inherit the earth, and those that die shall rest from all their labors, and their works shall follow them; and they shall receive a crown in the mansions of my Father, which I have prepared for them.

The First Vision  -By Gary Kapp.
Joseph Smith History 1:1:17 It no sooner appeared than I found myself adelivered from the enemy which held me bound. When the light rested upon me Ibsaw two cPersonages, whose brightness and dglory defy all description, estanding above me in the air. One of them spake unto me, calling me by name and said, pointing to the other—This is MyfBeloved gSon. Hear Him!

Christ's Image:  -by Heinrich Hofmann.
I, Neil Birch am sure President Eyring would want each of us to apply the following scriptures to ourselves as much as they may actually apply to us presently or even in the future! They were included in his list.

Matthew 11:28  ¶ Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Matthew 25: 21 His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

TODAY'S THEME:
President Boyd K. Packer of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

I invite you to now experience the talk President Packer gave at the April 2013 General Conference of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints:

http://www.lds.org/general-conference/2013/04/these-things-i-know?lang=eng

Elder Packer listed the following as References for his talk. (I believe that which he has included below will shed additional light on the subject of his April 1213 General Conference talk you have just viewed and listened to. It may take more time than you presently have to read view all of this so you may want to enjoy all which you now have time for and then return to this blog post later! (I have added paintings that I feel fit each of President Packer's references he listed at the end of his talk as it appeared in the May Ensign Magazine.)

The Prophet Isaiah Foretells Christ's Birth. -by Harry Anderson
Isaiah 32:
17. And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.

Jesus the Christ (Jesus is speaking to us!)
Doctrine and Covenants 38:
30 I tell you these things because of your prayers; wherefore, treasure up wisdom in your bosoms, lest the wickedness of men reveal these things unto you by their wickedness, in a manner which shall speak in your ears with a voice louder than that which shall shake the earth; but if ye are prepared ye shall not fear.

Teachings of Presidents of the Church: Joseph Smith
(This particular quote of the Prophet Joseph Smith is relatively long, but surely reflects the teachings of President Packer. It sheds marvelous light on what we each came to earth to experience and learn!)

C H A P T E R 1 7

We came to earth to obtain a body, to gain knowledge,
and to overcome through faith.

“All men know that they must die. And it is important that we
should understand the reasons and causes of our exposure to
the vicissitudes of life and of death, and the designs and purposes
of God in our coming into the world, our sufferings here,
and our departure hence. What is the object of our coming into
existence, then dying and falling away, to be here no more? It is
but reasonable to suppose that God would reveal something in
reference to the matter, and it is a subject we ought to study
more than any other. We ought to study it day and night, for the
world is ignorant in reference to their true condition and relation
[to God].”

“The design of God before the foundation of the world was
that we should take tabernacles [bodies], that through faithfulness
we should overcome and thereby obtain a resurrection
from the dead, in this wise obtaining glory, honor, power, and
dominion.”

“We came to this earth that we might have a body and present
it pure before God in the celestial kingdom. The great principle
of happiness consists in having a body. The devil has no body,
and herein is his punishment. He is pleased when he can obtain
the tabernacle of man, and when cast out by the Savior he asked
to go into the herd of swine, showing that he would prefer a
swine’s body to having none. All beings who have bodies have
power over those who have not.”

“Salvation is for a man to be saved from all his enemies; for
until a man can triumph over death, he is not saved. . . .

“The spirits in the eternal world are like the spirits in this
world. When those have come into this world and received
tabernacles, then died and again have risen and received glorified
bodies, they will have an ascendancy over the spirits who have
received no bodies, or kept not their first estate, like the devil.
The punishment of the devil was that he should not have a habitation
like men.

“The principle of knowledge is the principle of salvation. This
principle can be comprehended by the faithful and diligent; and
every one that does not obtain knowledge sufficient to be saved
will be condemned. The principle of salvation is given us through
the knowledge of Jesus Christ.

“Salvation is nothing more nor less than to triumph over all
our enemies and put them under our feet. And when we have
power to put all enemies under our feet in this world, and a
knowledge to triumph over all evil spirits in the world to come,
then we are saved, as in the case of Jesus, who was to reign until
He had put all enemies under His feet, and the last enemy was
death.
1 Corinthians 15:
25 For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.
26 The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.
“Perhaps there are principles here that few men have thought
of. No person can have this salvation except through a tabernacle.

“Now, in this world, mankind are naturally selfish, ambitious
and striving to excel one above another; yet some are willing to
build up others as well as themselves. So in the other world
there are a variety of spirits. Some seek to excel. And this was the
case with Lucifer when he fell. He sought for things which were
unlawful. Hence he was sent down, and it is said he drew many
away with him; and the greatness of his punishment is that he

shall not have a tabernacle. This is his punishment.”

Doctrine and Covenants 101:78  That every man may act in doctrine and principle pertaining to futurity,     according to the moral agency which I (Jesus) have given unto him, that every man may be accountable for his own sins in the day of judgment.

The Prophet Alma the Younger
Alma 45:16 And he said: Thus saith the Lord God—Cursed shall be the land, yea, this land, unto every nation, kindred, tongue, and people, unto destruction, which do wickedly, when they are fully ripe; and as I have said so shall it be; for this is the cursing and the blessing of God upon the land, for the Lord cannot look upon sin with the least degree of allowance.

Jesus the Christ
John 8:11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.

Moroni as he appeared many centuries later to the young Joseph Smith
During his lifetime, sometime between A.D. 400 and 421, in a land we now know as Baja California, the Prophet Moroni wrote:

Moroni 7:16 For behold, the Spirit of Christ is given to every man, that he may know good from evil; wherefore, I show unto you the way to judge; for every thing which inviteth to do good, and to persuade to believe in Christ, is sent forth by the power and gift of Christ; wherefore ye may know with a perfect knowledge it is of God.

I will now assist you in giving special attention to just some of the scriptures Elder Oaks referred to in his General Conference speech you have just read and listened to. I wish I had time in this blog post to focus on each of the scriptures presented in that marvelous talk.

I have superimposed images to assist you as you attempt to comprehend the wonderful reality and magnitude of meaning of each scripture I have chosen to use!: The section titles beginning with the one right below are some of those used by Elder Oaks in his talk you have just experienced.

JESUS IS THE ONLY BEGOTTEN SON

Jesus is the Only Begotten Son (and is in the exact image of his actual father: God Our Eternal Father)

Mary Holding Her Baby Jesus Whose Actual Father was Our and Jesus' Heavenly Father of our spirits.
John 3: 16 ¶ For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

Christ's Image.   -By Heinrich Hofmann.
John 17:5 And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.

John 14:7 If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.

8 Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us.

9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?

II Corinthians 4:4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

JESUS IS THE CREATOR (Along with His Father):

John 1: 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

2 The same was in the beginning with God.

3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

JESUS IS THE GOD OF ISRAEL:

John 8:58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.

Moses and the Brass Serpent. -by Judith Mehr
Numbers 21:8 And the Lord said unto Moses, Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live.

9 And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole, and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived. (The Brass Serpent Represented Jesus Christ!)

Jesus Christ Visits The Americas -by John Scott

3Nephi 11:10 Behold, I am Jesus Christ, whom the prophets testified shall come into the world.

11 And behold, I am the light and the life of the world; and I have drunk out of that bitter cup which the Father hath given me, and have glorified the Father in taking upon me the sins of the world, in the which I have suffered the will of the Father in all things from the beginning.

12 And it came to pass that when Jesus had spoken these words the whole multitude fell to the earth; for they remembered that it had been prophesied among them that Christ should show himself unto them after his ascension into heaven.

13 And it came to pass that the Lord spake unto them saying:

14 Arise and come forth unto me, that ye may thrust your hands into my side, and also that ye may feel the prints of the nails in my hands and in my feet, that ye may know that I am the God of Israel, and the God of the whole earth, and have been slain for the sins of the world.
Christ and the Book of Mormon Children. -by Del Parson

John 10:28; And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

And He Healed Them All Every One. -by Gary Kapp
John 17:2 As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.

JESUS USED PRIESTHOOD POWER:

Peace Be Still -by Arnold Friberg

Mark 4:38 And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?

39 And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.

40 And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?

41 And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?

Post 46x: Once Again it is My Privilege to Assist You in Focusing on Another Key Principle of the Lord Jesus Christ's Gospel: OBEDIENCE! After Presenting a New Testament Scripture From the Book of "Hebrews" Written by the Apostle Paul on that Subject and One From the Book of Luke You Will then also Enjoy Hearing From Thomas S. Monson, the President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Regarding How as an Eight Year Old Boy, He Learned the Hard Way About the Importance of the Gospel Principle of Obedience! I Know You Will Enjoy Experiencing His Engaging Talk Along With Those Scriptures Regarding the Obedience of Our Savior and Redeemer, Jesus Christ!

The Following Blog Description Explains Why My Blog has been renamed: "Four Books of Scripture Testify of Jesus Christ!

Jesus in the Wood Shop Learning by Obedience to  His Step-Father, Joseph

THE EPISTLE OF PAUL THE APOSTLE TO THE
HEBREWS
CHAPTER 5

  8 Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;
  9 And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;

As always, Jesus from His youth demonstrated strict obedience, not only to His earthly step-father, Joseph and his actual mother Mary, but also to His and our Heavenly Father, who only in the case of Jesus out of all of us born on earth anytime throughout its long and continuing history, was not only the Heavenly Father of Jesus' Eternal Spirit, but actually He was also the Birth Father of Jesus's mortal body!

Luke 2:41 Now his parents went to Jerusalem every year at the feast of the passover.
42 And when he was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem after the custom of the feast.
43 And when they had fulfilled the days, as they returned, the child Jesus tarried behind in Jerusalem; and Joseph and his mother knew not of it.
44 But they, supposing him to have been in the company, went a day’s journey; and they sought him among their kinsfolk and acquaintance.
45 And when they found him not, they turned back again to Jerusalem, seeking him.
46 And it came to pass, that after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, both hearing them, and asking them questions.
47 And all that heard him were astonished at his understanding and answers.
48 And when they saw him, they were amazed: and his mother said unto him, Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us? behold, thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing.
49 And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father’s business?

Now, as it has become my custom of late in these blog posts I've been publishing, I turn once again to a modern day Prophet who is also an Apostle of the Lord Jesus Christ in our day, Thomas S. Monson who is also the President and Prophet Seer and Revelator of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He provides us a very lively and and even humorous example how he learned as an eight year old boy the negative consequences of disobedience and as one of the Lord's apostles learned of the blessings that came to several very obedient members of the Church who had lived behind the "Iron Curtain of Communism  for a long time! Please enjoy both viewing and listening to this General Conference address.
