The Lost Lamb -by Del Parson
Like the Lost Lamb Pictured Above in the Arms of Our Savior, Jesus Christ, Those of Us Who are Addicted to Anything Harmful to Us, Can be Rescued From Such an Addiction with the Help Provided by the Lord's Restored Church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

M. Russell Ballard of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of the Church of Jesus Christ of  Latter-day Saints

A Message on the Subject of Addiction, By a Modern Day Apostle of the Lord Jesus Christ, M. Russell Ballard;

You Will Be Freed (from Addiction)

I now provide you with the means whereby you will be assisted in becoming personally involved with the LDS Addiction Recovery Program if that is something needed by you or persons dear to you:

How to Become Personally Involved in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Addiction Recovery Program

This is to inform you of some of my involvement as a co-missionary with my wife, Melva and an earlier personal involvement professionally with LDS Family Services and concurrently as a graduate student, in programs that led to its development, and then just before our mission, on an assignment from our LDS Ward Bishop, in the Addiction Recovery Program mentioned above.

From some time in the year 2004, to mid 2006, my wife, Melva, and I served a full-time Couple's Mission in Finland, the country in which I had served as a young missionary. In her younger years, Melva had served a full-time mission in the Eastern States Mission headquartered in New York, N.Y., U.S.A.

Several months before my wife and I received our call to serve a mission in Finland, I was assigned by our ward bishop to assist a male member of our ward in attending Addiction Recovery Group meetings in the Salt Lake Valley which is in our part of Utah. That program was not yet fully functioning when I retired. However, a number of years earlier as a full-time employee of LDS Family Services in the San Francisco Bay Area of Northern California, and at the same time, as a graduate student in the MSW program at San Jose California State University - San Jose, I had the privilege of playing a key role in developing groups that became some of the forerunners of the eventual LDS Family Services Addiction Recovery Groups.

With the Lord's special help I was blessed in being able to retain a good portion my skill with the Finnish language I had acquired as a young missionary. Much of that was accomplished by reading the Book of Mormon in Finnish out loud in our daily scripture reading sessions while my wife, Melva read her portion in English.

Although our mission call was to be a proselyting mission couple, part-way through our mission we were also assigned officially by our Area Leadership located in Frankfurt, Germany to help bring about the Addiction Recovery Program in Finland. At that time that program was not functioning at all in Europe.

I was very effectively assisted in my efforts to accomplish that by closely coordinating my efforts in Finland through long-distance telephoning, with my former colleague, Brent Scharman at the Headquarters of LDS Family Services in Salt Lake City, Utah, U.S.A.

By the end of our two year mission, Addiction Recovery Groups were functioning not only in Finland but also in England. A former colleague of mine with LDS Family Services in the Western U.S.A, Mark Ricks and his wife were serving as full-time missionaries in England, asked us to include them in our first group leader training meeting that we held in Hämeenlina, Finland in about mid-2005, (if I remember correctly.) Then because the Addiction Recovery Services manual had already been published in English (for use in the U.S.A.), they were the first to use the official Addiction Recovery Group manuals in Europe (in various parts of England).

It took a little while to begin providing official Addiction Recovery Groups in Finland because the manual had not yet been fully translated into Finnish. However, when our groups began, the first of all groups in Europe, the group leaders used the English Language version of the Addiction Recovery manuals by personally translating that which was needed from the English language version. The Finns who did that were very capable in working with the English language as well as their own Finnish language. Near the end of our mission several small preliminary addiction recovery groups were functioning in Finland.

It was just several days after Sister Melva Birch and I arrived home from our mission in Finland that we received by mail the officially approved Finnish Translation of the Addiction Recovery Manual. It wasn't long after that translation was approved that three officially approved groups were established within several stakes of the Church in Finland. The numbers of groups in that country has continued to grow I am happy to report!

Now there are a good number of LDS Family Services' Addiction Recovery Groups functioning in a fairly good number of nations throughout Europe, including in Germany and in Scandinavia, as well as those which had begun in England.

Actually, before the Addiction Recovery Groups had been set up in Europe, groups had already been set up in the United States of America and in South America and in even in some other parts of the world as well.

TODAY'S THEME

Easter has just come and is now gone, however, its message of hope and eternal happiness continues on and on. Feeling that its message could still be especially needed by some of you right now, even so very soon after Easter 2012; and because the subject of the Resurrection generally continues to be a very vital subject to each of us, I present the following:

Why Weepest Thou? -by Simon Dewey
The Resurrection of the Dead was a subject many Nephite Prophets focused upon in their writings as recorded in The Book of Mormon, Another Testament of Jesus Christ.

This list I provide you is just a small sample of two, but within these two scriptures are included significant statements on this important subject of Resurrection framing sure scriptural evidence of the truthfulness of the promise of a resurrection of all mankind.

The following are words of the Prophet, Moroni, son of the Prophet, Mormon (Who lived between A.D. 400 and 421 somewhere in Ancient America):
The Book of Mormon: Mormon 9:13 And because of the redemption of man, which came by Jesus Christ, they are brought back into the presence of the Lord; yea, this is wherein all men are redeemed, because the death of Christ bringeth to pass the resurrection, which bringeth to pass a redemption from an endless sleep, from which sleep all men shall be awakened by the power of God when the trump shall sound; and they shall come forth, both small and great, and all shall stand before his bar, being redeemed and loosed from this eternal band of death, which death is a temporal death.
In about 82 B.C., Also somewhere in ancient America, the Prophet Alma, The Younger, wrote:
The Book of Mormon: Alma 11: 40 And he shall come into the world to redeem his people; and he shall take upon him the transgressions of those who believe on his name; and these are they that shall have eternal life, and salvation cometh to none else.
41 Therefore the wicked remain as though there had been no redemption made, except it be the loosing of the bands of death; for behold, the day cometh that all shall rise from the dead and stand before God, and be judged according to their works.
42 Now, there is a death which is called a temporal death; and the death of Christ shall loose the bands of this temporal death, that all shall be raised from this temporal death.
43 The spirit and the body shall be reunited again in its perfect form; both limb and joint shall be restored to its proper frame, even as we now are at this time; and we shall be brought to stand before God, knowing even as we know now, and have a bright recollection of all our guilt.
44 Now, this restoration shall come to all, both old and young, both bond and free, both male and female, both the wicked and the righteous; and even there shall not so much as a hair of their heads be lost; but every thing shall be restored to its perfect frame, as it is now, or in the body, and shall be brought and be arraigned before the bar of Christ the Son, and God the Father, and the Holy Spirit, which is one Eternal God, to be judged according to their works, whether they be good or whether they be evil.
45 Now, behold, I have spoken unto you concerning the death of the mortal body, and also concerning the resurrection of the mortal body. I say unto you that this mortal body is raised to an immortal body, that is from death, even from the first death unto life, that they can die no more; their spirits uniting with their bodies, never to be divided; thus the whole becoming spiritual and immortal, that they can no more see corruption.
In the following Mormon Messages Video President Thomas S. Monson of the  Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Gives His Sure Prophetic Witness that there is Life after Death!

We Can Live With God Again

Now after having provided each one of us with a strong, vibrant hope and assurance that after the death of each us and our loved ones, Life will eventually continue through the Resurrection of the Dead which was provided by our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ; I now feature a special musical presentation filmed in Utah County the county just South Salt Lake County where I live here in the State of Utah (U.S.A.)

This video features a very a very talented male soloist of the World Renowned, Mormon Tabernacle Choir; Alex Boyé who was born in Nigeria and later moved to the United States of America with his family and just very recently became a U.S. Citizen. Recently he teamed up with an LDS Church Institute (Youth) Choir in a production in which the great joy which comes from the sureness of the Resurrection of the Dead, is beautifully and dramatically proclaimed:

TODAY'S THEME:

Mormon Abridging the Plates -by Tom Lovell

Moroni, Now a resurrected man, (an Angel), delivers those Plates of Gold to Joseph Smith in 1830 -by Kenneth Riley
Many words of the Prophet Moroni, a son of the Prophet Mormon were also included within that sacred book, the Book of Mormon, Another Testament of Jesus Christ, which his father, for the most part compiled. Here are some of them which I feel are particularly appropriate for this blog post of mine:
Mormon 9: 7  And again I speak unto you who deny the revelations of God, and say that they are done away, that there are no revelations, nor prophecies, nor gifts, nor healing, nor speaking with tongues, and the interpretation of tongues;
8  Behold I say unto you, he that denieth these things knoweth not the gospel of Christ; yea, he has not read the scriptures; if so, he does not understand them.
9  For do we not read that God is the same yesterday, today, and forever, and in him there is no variableness neither shadow of changing?
10  And now, if ye have imagined up unto yourselves a god who doth vary, and in whom there is shadow of changing, then have ye imagined up unto yourselves a god who is not a God of miracles.
11  But behold, I will show unto you a God of miracles, even the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob; and it is that same God who created the heavens and the earth, and all things that in them are.
12  Behold, he created Adam, and by Adam came the fall of man.  And because of the fall of man came Jesus Christ, even the Father and the Son; and because of Jesus Christ came the redemption of man.
13  And because of the redemption of man, which came by Jesus Christ, they are brought back into the presence of the Lord; yea, this is wherein all men are redeemed, because the death of Christ bringeth to pass the resurrection, which bringeth to pass a redemption from an endless sleep, from which sleep all men shall be awakened by the power of God when the trump shall sound; and they shall come forth, both small and great, and all shall stand before his bar, being redeemed and loosed from this eternal band of death, which death is a temporal death.
14  And then cometh the judgment of the Holy One upon them; and then cometh the time that he that is filthy shall be filthy still; and he that is righteous shall be righteous still; he that is happy shall be happy still; and he that is unhappy shall be unhappy still.
15  And now, O all ye that have imagined up unto yourselves a god who can do no miracles, I would ask of you, have all these things passed, of which I have spoken?  Has the end come yet?  Behold I say unto you, Nay; and God has not ceased to be a God of miracles.
16  Behold, are not the things that God hath wrought marvelous in our eyes?  Yea, and who can comprehend the marvelous works of God?
17  Who shall say that it was not a miracle that by his word the heaven and the earth should be; and by the power of his word man was created of the dust of the earth; and by the power of his word have miracles been wrought?
18  And who shall say that Jesus Christ did not do many mighty miracles?  And there were many mighty miracles wrought by the hands of the apostles.
19  And if there were miracles wrought then, why has God ceased to be a God of miracles and yet be an unchangeable Being?  And behold, I say unto you he changeth not; if so he would cease to be God; and he ceaseth not to be God, and is a God of miracles.
20  And the reason why he ceaseth to do miracles among the children of men is because that they dwindle in unbelief, and depart from the right way, and know not the God in whom they should trust.
21  Behold, I say unto you that whoso believeth in Christ, doubting nothing, whatsoever he shall ask the Father in the name of Christ it shall be granted him; and this promise is unto all, even unto the ends of the earth.
22  For behold, thus said Jesus Christ, the Son of God, unto his disciples who should tarry, yea, and also to all his disciples, in the hearing of the multitude: Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature;
23  And he that believeth and is baptized shall be saved, but he that believeth not shall be damned;
24  And these signs shall follow them that believe—in my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; they shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick and they shall recover;
25  And whosoever shall believe in my name, doubting nothing, unto him will I confirm all my words, even unto the ends of the earth. (emphasis added by Neil Birch)
I am sure that those of you who are viewing this particular blog post of mine come from many different backgrounds, but whatever your view of miracles has been I want you to know that I from my own personal experience can testify that the Lord, Jesus Christ is a God of miracles!

A particular miracle that I was blessed to experience recently was not an astounding miracle, but nonetheless it was a miracle in my view and in the view of several leaders with whom I'm assigned to work in my church service assignment at a local hospital here in the Salt Lake Valley in the State of Utah (U.S.A.)

I relate this experience of mine to you in order to help each of you know that miracles continue to happen in our day and time on earth. As usually is the case this miracle was, in my humble opinion, given to me to strengthen my, and the faith of others who come to learn of this experience of mine, including each of you, faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

On about the second Sunday of this March, 2012 about five minutes early I entered the room in which our branch Sacrament Meetings are held. Just after I sat down somewhere near the front of the room as I usually do, Brother Al McBride of the branch presidency began walking toward me. I quickly realized that he most likely was just about to ask me to help with the Sacrament.

That turned out be his intention, but instead of asking me to pass the Sacrament which I have done a good number of times, he instead asked me to bless the Sacrament. He asked me if it would be difficult for me to kneel (knowing I had had knee problems as a boy) and I replied: "no."

I had never been asked to do that before in one of our branch sacrament meetings, in the two and a half years I had been assigned by our stake president to the Murray Fourth Branch, and I never really expected to be asked to do so because when Melva and I were first assigned to serve in the branch we were asked whether there was anything that would be too difficult for either of us to do that is usually done in the branch. I most likely told that member of the presidency in reply that it would be difficult for me to bless the Sacrament because my voice had become somewhat raspy. I might also have mentioned that I had two new knees which were implanted surgically.

Anyway, as I was seating myself next to the right of the other man who would also be blessing the Sacrament, Brother Al McBride right then walked over and told both of us "Priests" that we would have to read the Sacrament Prayers loudly and clearly that day because the Branch's Sacrament microphone was not functioning and wasn't even there.

I then silently and urgently asked the Lord to bless me that when I would soon be reading the Sacrament Prayer on the Bread that my voice would be sufficiently loud and clear so all in attendance could hear the sacred words of the prayer clearly and feel their meaning!

Soon the Sacrament song had been sung and I knelt down on the little stool provided me and began reading the Prayer on the Bread. Kneeling was not a problem but I recalled I had asked the Lord for His help in reading the Sacrament Prayer sufficiently loudly and clearly so all could hear these so very sacred words.
Book of Mormon, Moroni 4:3 O God, the Eternal Father, we ask thee in the name of thy Son, Jesus Christ, to bless and sanctify this bread to the souls of all those who partake of it; that they may eat in remembrance of the body of thy Son, and witness unto thee, O God, the Eternal Father, that they are willing to take upon them the name of thy Son, and always remember him, and keep his commandments which he hath given them, that they may always have his Spirit to be with them. Amen.
As I began reading, I instantly and clearly realized that my prayer, despite the absence of a microphone, was very loud and had been somehow magnified and was being very clearly heard throughout that good sized room with the usual large number of branch members along with a number of patients and hospital workers in attendance also.

I even felt an impulse to tone down the loudness of that prayer, but instantly I knew intuitively that was something I should not do. My voice was not raspy! It was my voice I was hearing, but it was an amazingly clear voice and was being greatly magnified! I sensed that I was experiencing a miracle!

When it was time for the Water to be blessed, my "Priest" partner had difficulty praying loud enough to be heard as clearly as I realized mine had been. He mentioned to me just after we had finished the Sacrament service that my prayer had been sufficiently loud but his hadn't. I didn't attempt to explain to him what I believe had happened during the prayer I had offered.

No one else that day mentioned anything about the loudness and clarity of my reading of the Sacrament prayer. Soon while standing each time in various patients' rooms, I took turns reading each of the Sacrament prayers a good number of times while serving with several couples who were also branch members.

Each time while taking turns reading those Sacrament prayers I experienced my usually somewhat raspy voice. The magnified voice I had been blessed with earlier that morning downstairs in the meeting was no longer with me and wasn't really needed in those settings!

I later decided that most of those who heard me read the Sacrament prayer on the bread earlier that morning must have assumed the Sacrament microphone was working just fine and that when the second man read the prayer on the water they most likely could have assumed the microphone (which most of them couldn't have seen even if it had been there that day) had accidentally been turned off.

Several Sundays later I reminded Brother Al McBride about that experience we had that Sunday earlier in the month when the Sacrament table microphone wasn't working . He then told me:
"That microphone wasn't working and wasn't even there on the Sacrament table, but we heard you loudly and clearly."
I told him that although it was my voice that was heard reading the sacrament prayer on the bread, I knew I was doing it with special assistance from the Lord! He smiled and nodded.

Later on that same Sunday after finishing my assignment upstairs in the Hospital with the group to which I had been assigned, I ran into the other counselor in the branch presidency, Brother John Riches. I mentioned to him the experience I had earlier in the month when the Good Lord had magnified my voice when it needed to be magnified.

He said he realized that was happening when it happened because he knew the Sacrament table microphone wasn't working and wasn't even there at all. He then told me:
"That was just a very good example of the miracles that take place all the time in this Hospital Branch in which we have been assigned to work by the Lord!"
I believe the reason why that special reading of that holy Sacrament prayer occurred can be explained by something that President Thomas S. Monson, the President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, said during his closing remarks in the April (2012) General Conference Priesthood meeting:
"Do your duty that is best, and then leave unto the Lord the rest."
Respectfully and Gratefully Submitted, J. Neil Birch

In this post Google has once again began to post advertisements within scriptures! Google please stop doing this. Dear Readers please continue reading these posts! I will patiently continue my posting despite their failure to once again refrain from posting ads in the sacred scriptures I use! I suggest you pay no attention to their adds that have been posted in scriptures!

Somewhere in the ancient Americas in about 124 B.C.King Benjamin addressed his people on a vital topic when he had called them together on the occasion of his turning his kingdom over to his son Mosiah. In that so important address he stressed the importance of each of his subjects serving one another in their needs:

King Benjamin Preaches to the Nephites -by Gary Kapp
Mosiah 4:16 And also, ye yourselves will succor those that stand in need of your succor; ye will administer of your substance unto him that standeth in need; and ye will not suffer that the beggar putteth up his petition to you in vain, and turn him out to perish.
17 Perhaps thou shalt say: The man has brought upon himself his misery; therefore I will stay my hand, and will not give unto him of my food, nor impart unto him of my substance that he may not suffer, for his punishments are just—
18 But I say unto you, O man, whosoever doeth this the same hath great cause to repent; and except he repenteth of that which he hath done he perisheth forever, and hath no interest in the kingdom of God.
19 For behold, are we not all beggars? Do we not all depend upon the same Being, even God, for all the substance which we have, for both food and raiment, and for gold, and for silver, and for all the riches which we have of every kind?
20 And behold, even at this time, ye have been calling on his name, and begging for a remission of your sins. And has he suffered that ye have begged in vain? Nay; he has poured out his Spirit upon you, and has caused that your hearts should be filled with joy, and has caused that your mouths should be stopped that ye could not find utterance, so exceedingly great was your joy.
21 And now, if God, who has created you, on whom you are dependent for your lives and for all that ye have and are, doth grant unto you whatsoever ye ask that is right, in faith, believing that ye shall receive, O then, how ye ought to impart of the substance that ye have one to another.
22 And if ye judge the man who putteth up his petition to you for your substance that he perish not, and condemn him, how much more just will be your condemnation for withholding your substance, which doth not belong to you but to God, to whom also your life belongeth; and yet ye put up no petition, nor repent of the thing which thou hast done.
23 I say unto you, wo be unto that man, for his substance shall perish with him; and now, I say these things unto those who are rich as pertaining to the things of this world.
24 And again, I say unto the poor, ye who have not and yet have sufficient, that ye remain from day to day; I mean all you who deny the beggar, because ye have not; I would that ye say in your hearts that: I give not because I have not, but if I had I would give.
25 And now, if ye say this in your hearts ye remain guiltless, otherwise ye are condemned; and your condemnation is just for ye covet that which ye have not received.
26 And now, for the sake of these things which I have spoken unto you—that is, for the sake of retaining a remission of your sins from day to day, that ye may walk guiltless before God—I would that ye should impart of your substance to the poor, every man according to that which he hath, such as feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, visiting the sick and administering to their relief, both spiritually and temporally, according to their wants.
27 And see that all these things are done in wisdom and order; for it is not requisite that a man should run faster than he has strength. And again, it is expedient that he should be diligent, that thereby he might win the prize; therefore, all things must be done in order.
28 And I would that ye should remember, that whosoever among you borroweth of his neighbor should return the thing that he borroweth, according as he doth agree, or else thou shalt commit sin; and perhaps thou shalt cause thy neighbor to commit sin also.
29 And finally, I cannot tell you all the things whereby ye may commit sin; for there are divers ways and means, even so many that I cannot number them.
30 But this much I can tell you, that if ye do not watch yourselves, and your thoughts, and your words, and your deeds, and observe the commandments of God, and continue in the faith of what ye have heard concerning the coming of our Lord, even unto the end of your lives, ye must perish. And now, O man, remember, and perish not.
The Book of Mormon, Another Testament of Jesus Christ has an important role in teaching members of Jesus Christ's only true Church their joint and individual responsibilities of serving others in their needs.

The Leadership of the Lord's only authorized church on the face of the earth today function fully in accord with the above inspired words of King Benjamin.

Since the Lord Jesus Christ restored His church to earth in April 1830, He has constantly reminded the leaders and members of His Church about their need to serve others who may be in need of means to sustain their lives.
D. and C.: 82: 17 And you are to be equal, or in other words, you are to have equal claims on the properties, for the benefit of managing the concerns of your stewardships, every man according to his wants and his needs, inasmuch as his wants are just—
18 And all this for the benefit of the church of the living God, that every man may improve upon his talent, that every man may gain other talents, yea, even an hundred fold, to be cast into the Lord's storehouse, to become the common property of the whole church—
19 Every man seeking the interest of his neighbor, and doing all things with an eye single to the glory of God.
20 This order I have appointed to be an everlasting order unto you, and unto your successors, inasmuch as you sin not.
21 And the soul that sins against this covenant, and hardeneth his heart against it, shall be dealt with according to the laws of my church, and shall be delivered over to the buffetings of Satan until the day of redemption.
22 And now, verily I say unto you, and this is wisdom, make unto yourselves friends with the mammon of unrighteousness, and they will not destroy you.
23 Leave judgment alone with me, for it is mine and I will repay. Peace be with you; my blessings continue with you.
24 For even yet the kingdom is yours, and shall be forever, if you fall not from your steadfastness. Even so. Amen. (emphasis added by Neil Birch)

APRIL 2012 GENERAL CONFERENCE HIGHLIGHTS

General Conference Center - Salt Lake City, Utah, United States of America
General Conference is such an important Event in the Lives of Latter-day Saints. I only touched lightly on this April General Conference in my just previous blog post (which was running on Easter Sunday). The few general conference talks I I did emphasize were so very important and inspiring. However, Instead I gave much emphasis to the Advent of Easter 2012! That Emphasis was needed because the events Celebrated at Easter Time Each Year impact our lives tremendously!

But so do the Inspired General Conference Talks Impact our lives tremendously and the Theme of Easter is Truly An Integral Part of this Just Concluded April 2012 General Conference.

TODAY'S THEME:

Jesus the Christ -by Del Parson
A CONTINUATION OF CELEBRATING EASTER 2012
Once again, as I did in my most recent blog post, I offer you the special opportunity of viewing the same Mormon Messages' video in which is summarized that which led up to and included the final complete and full Personal Sacrifice our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ made for Each of Us; several days before that very first Easter Morning!

He is Risen

Now you will hear the Mormon Tabernacle Choir performing a hymn which is found in the LDS Hymnal:
"He is Risen!"
Please click quickly on the words you will see above on your screen:  "Click here for the music video version of that Song." In this music video you will first see depicted our Resurrected Jesus Christ interacting with his apostles and others in Jerusalem and then interacting with His Nephite-Lamanite people somewhere in the general area of Central America-Mexico in the ancient Americas.

When that video has ended, as was foretold in the Summary Given at the first of this blog post above, you will have the very special opportunity of viewing and listening to the Inspired LDS April 2012 General Conference talks of three of our Savior's Special Witnesses who are living and serving Him in our day and time!

How to Obtain Revelation and Inspiration for Your Personal Life: Elder Richard G. Scott of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.

Please Note:  After first clicking on each of these following links, I suggest you click on the option: Watch (which will allow you to view each of these general conference talks.)

Elder Jeffrey R. Holland of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles; "the Laborers in the Vineyard."
